About Me

My name is Shannon, and I'm the proud owner and sole operator of Retro Refresh. I started doing this because I have a deep passion for these classic gaming consoles that brought joy to our childhoods.

If you're anything like me, as a kid you could be found sitting cross-legged on the carpet, either watching those wrist rockets in Star Wars Battlefront 2 or dying for the 900th time to that god damn spider in Metroid Fusion that gives you Space Jump (worth it). Of course, the games change over time, and soon you aren't sitting cross legged with your feet buried in carpet, but rather at a desk in a regular office chair, and those beloved consoles began to gather dust in attics and basements, or worse, traded in to your local game store at half value toward a copy of Borderlands or whatever new game was coming out that you couldn't afford at the time but HAD to play.

Luckily, one of the things I did hang on to was my Original Xbox. Every now and then I found myself powering it on and playing through the campaign of MechAssault (one of the few games I held on to), when finally I decided that it was time to make sure I could carry this console forward with me for many more years.

After doing heaps of research and learning everything I could about the long term care of these systems, I got to work installing a mod chip, replacing bulging capacitors (honestly couldn't believe it still turned on), all while knowing basically nothing about electronics or soldering (in hindsight this was a mistake, I was lucky to not irredeemably damage my board, and I still made some mistakes!).

After basking in the glory of the new found life my Xbox was enjoying, I came across an Original Gameboy at a flea market and thought "Never had one of these, let's give it a shot!". Before I knew it, I had shelves full of old consoles, and I needed to come up with something to do with them. I started selling at local craft fairs, and after a year or so of that decided it was time to throw up a little website (here it is!) and offer a send in service as well as sell any consoles which I restore as I come across them.

At Retro Refresh, I specialize in repairing and restoring iconic gaming devices like the Gameboy, Xbox, and PlayStation. These consoles hold a special place in our hearts, and I want to make sure they continue to bring joy to anyone who has an interest in them.

I take pride in offering a wide selection of classic gaming devices that not only bring back fond memories but also offer a unique gaming experience. Each console is meticulously restored to its former glory, ensuring that you get the best possible experience.

Whether you're a seasoned gamer looking to relive your childhood or a curious soul wanting to experience a system you have never touched before in your life, Retro Refresh is here to make your gaming dreams come true.
